Advanced Help

List Shortcuts

This feature lets you create a shortcut to any list on the home screen.
You can create any number of these shortcuts in addition to the List Master Pro shortcut itself.

From the Main Screen, long click a list and select Create Home Shortcut from the menu. From the List Editor Screen, open the options menu and select More->Create Home Shortcut. From the Android Launcher, long click and select create shortcut.  Then scroll to List Master Pro and click it.

A message will confirm that the shortcut has been created.  Be patient, sometimes it can take a few seconds to show up.

Link note to Lists Feature

When you long click on a note, one of the options is the Link note to Lists option.

Clicking it will bring up a checklist containing all of your lists.
The note that you long clicked is currently in the lists with a check mark.

To change which lists a note is in, simple check all of the lists that you want that note to appear in and click Save.

This note is now linked to all of the lists you selected and any changes you make to it in one list will show up in all of them.

Sublists and Subnotes

Sublists allow you to put lists within a lists as many levels deep as you want.

To add a sublist to a list, first open that list.  Then open the menu and click add sublist.
From here you can either link an existing list to this list as a sublist or create a brand new sublist.

Subnotes are notes that belong to other notes.  For example, if you have multiple steps to finish a project, you can make each step a subnote under the project and check each one off as it's completed.

To add a subnote, long click a note and click add subnote.

Voice Recognition

Using voice recognition, is very simple.  Just push the microphone button in the bottom right corner, wait for the Speech Dialog to open, then speak the title of the new list or note (depending on the screen).

Import/export features

List Master supports exporting lists to SD Card or e-mail.  Files on the SD Card are stored in the /Listmaster_data/ directory.  To import a list from the SD Card, place it in the same directory and open the import wizard through the options menu on the main screen.

To send a list with e-mail, either long click the list in the main screen, or click Export list in the Options Menu of the List Editor Screen.  In the Export Wizard, select Export to E-mail.  If the e-mail recipient has List Master on their phone, they can open the attachment and import the list into List Master (Note: the SD card must be properly mounted to send a list via email attachment)

List Master supports two file formats, XML and CSV.  The XML format is used exclusively to transfer data from one phone to another and should not be manipulated manually.  The CSV format is meant to be edited with Excel or some other spreadsheet program and allows you to edit lists on your PC.

List Types

List types help streamline your list making by showing only the fields that are relevant to your current list.

For example, a shopping list will have price and location fields, but not due date.  A todo list will have due date but not price or location.
Note: all of these fields can be used in any list type, they will simply be hidden by the Note Editor to avoid clutter.

You can change a list's type when you create it or by clicking any of the Edit buttons for that list.

Editing List Types

In Pro, you can edit the list types or create your own.

From the main screen, click Menu->More->Edit List Types.
Now click a type to edit or click Create New List Type.
This brings up the List Type Editor.

Here you can manipulate every aspect of the list type.  All of the available fields are listed.
Put a check mark in front of the fields that are important to the list type you are creating.
Use Drag and Drop to change the order of these checked fields to change how they will appear in the Note Editor and in the List.

Clicking on a checked field allows you to edit the following properties of the field:
Field Name: Only custom fields (marked with *) can be renamed
Data type: A field can contain Text, Numeric, or Date Time data.  This property determines if a text box or date/time buttons will be shown in the Note Editor.
Text Alignment: When viewing an expanded note, some of the fields (like due dates) are shown on the right side of the note, while most appear on the left.  This property lets you change which side the field will be shown on in the List.
Always Show: If checked, this field will always be shown in the list, whether a note is expanded or not.  This is useful if you always want due dates or details to be visible in a list without having to expand each note individually.  (If a note doesn't have data for this field, it will never be shown).
